Indeed ... but even the moral frame that makes people like me nauseated and terrified makes the base feel uplifted. This is the kind of thing that happens when people live in fear and have their identities challenged - they gravitate to authoritarian sources of power. Helter-Skelter only buoys their sense of power and safety. The rise and spread of fear only adds people to the base.
I like the perspective. Trump has frequently done horrible and illegal things that has bolstered confidence in his base. Tariffs are one example. ICE chaos another. Murdering people on fishing boats. Dismantling of humanitarian, environmental, social, educational, health, [insert useful government role] systems…it’s important to analyze and counter the signaling rather than just create noise.
