I agree with all that you have said above. However, I think most of us know how mentally unstable our President & his administration & radicalized followers(base)are. Mental illness is systemic in our country & across the globe-Putin slaughtering Ukrainians, Netanyahu ethnic cleansing the people of Gaza, mass shootings all over our country, Trump trying to overthrow our Democracy, etc. etc.These are mentally ill leaders all over our world making horrendous
decisions‼️
We cannot save the world 🌍, but we can save our Democracy by Persisting that Our President is not fit for the leadership of our country & Remove him from office. HOW MUCH MORE OBVIOUS EVIDENCE DO WE NEED ? His niece, Mary Trump (Clinical psychologist) & so many other in the Psychiatric Community confirm this diagnosis. Are we blind or in denial about the degree of trauma Trump is causing?
We need that generational leader to take the stage and chart a course that pulls the pro democracy factions together, the way Lincoln pulled the fractured party landscape together heading into the war. Without that leadership—and much as I hate to agree with you on this—the upswell of righteous anger against authoritarianism and oligarchy we saw this weekend could very well dissipate like the Zuccotti Park moment.
Sadly stew, the left is it’s own worst enemy. As I was watching the No Kings rally, there was this one scene of some dude standing on a stage with a mike expounding his own cause. Thankfully I didn’t’ see any national flags other than the American flag, but I did see a lot of kefiyahs (the black checkered scarf of the Palestinians and HAMAS
These fools can’t help themselves, attention whores, they believe that their cause is superior to all others and thus. The left needs to but can’t learn from the Right, they are, regardless of their personal cause, united under MAGA.
As regards hope. My concern that it is an anesthetic, hopium (hope and opium). Why does the girl crawl into a 55 gal drum? Hope. Why does the man dig hisown grave? Hope
That which concerns me about October 18th is that people will pat themselves on the back, like a pressure cooker, the protest was a relief valve, and people will go back to their somnolent, passive state
It is not sufficient to gather in a crowd with signs and costumes then go home and congratulate yourself,
The only way, outside of a physical revolution, is a national BDS, Boycott, Divestment, Sanction, a general strike, and sabotage.
That will never happen though, too many are too comfortable, until they are not and then it is too late.
There would never have been the revolution of 1775 if the colonists restricted their activity to marching in protests holding signs, Same for any revolution.
The establishment will not change unless replaced of forced to by overwhelming countervailing power.
The situation today is worse than at any time in history. Trump has pulled off a self coup, and has unfettered control of the police power of the state, including the military, and Justice Department.
Even at the local level there are the right wing Oath Keepers and Constitutional Sheriff's and Peace Officers Association, that and cops are conservative, even racist and NAZI's. You won't find liberals and progressives in law enforcement.
He has demonstrated that he can and will ignore the judiciary, and that when a case reaches the supreme arbiter (SCOTUS), it will rule in his favor, via the shadow docket, or by rulings.

I would argue mass denial.
