In my opinion, this administration is going to use John Marshall’s Discovery Doctrine as precedent to take over anything and everything they want to in the Western Hemisphere and claim it’s a “divine right.”
Every Republican administration since the end of WWII has pushed this country closer to the authoritarianism that we fought against. We have secret police murdering people and we have a propaganda machine that goes overboard trying to spin it as somehow justified. The German people in 1936 (ten years before the end of WWII) claimed they knew nothing. We aren’t going to be able to claim that we knew nothing, so we have to start calling it out for the fascism that it is. Otherwise we’re the collaborators who will feel horribly that we didn’t do more to stop it.
Call your congresscritters every day. Make sure they take down your name and address, elsewise they’re not required to tally it, even if you just leave a voice mail.
I’m so sorry most generation sat back and ignored the creeping authoritarianism that has taken over this country. I’m sorry it’s on your generation to fix what much of my generation seems to have excused an embraced from a television charlatan. I’m sorry that the real pushback is just now beginning to mount.
I fear we’ve seen the last of elections, and I’ll be surprised if we have free or fair elections at the end of this year.
