Candidates, often unpalatable and not at all progressive, were selected by the DNC, DCCC, DSCCC and shoved down our throats.
The Democratic party is epitomized by Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer,, apparatchiks, who have made a fortune from their membership in that exclusive club : Congress
Here is how the Democratic party worked. This is my analogy.
There is a stable of would be race horses, They work out in the paddock, accumulating credentials, like Hillary being appointed as Sec of State, to give her foreign service credentials, which the Council of Foreign Relations, the Business Round table and international finance felt were all important.
Accumulating creds, proving their loyalty, and then when it was their turn, they were hauled to the starting gate, and lost, because they were out of touch and out of tune with the public, and the only voice that they heard was the the hum of the beltway and the demands of the donors, hich were the same that contributed to the Republican party.
Two prime examples. Hillary Clinton she paid her dues, proved her loyalty, but not sufficient she lacked foreign service creds so after she lost to Obama, he appointed her Secretary of State.
But in the 2016 Primary, the DNC put their finger on the scale. The Democratic primary is determined in the south and in that in South Carolina in which the part is dominated by black women, as South Carolina goes, so goes the rest of the South and who ever wins that primary wins the Democratic Primary.
The DNC overstated Hillary’s civil rights creds, which were nominal and ignored Bernie Sanders which were substantial given that he actually marched for civil rights.
Result, Hilllary won the primary,but lost the election. I have bad news for Democrats, and it is reality, we can complain about racismand misogyny but when it coms to the voing booth we have to face reality, and the quality and characteristics it takes to win in the Democratic primary are those that lose the general election.
Black women crowed how they were/are the decider in the Democratic party, however they are also the decider in the General election and that is why we have Trump.
Less orgullo chauvinism, more pragmatism and we wouldn’t be in the situation we are in now.
Sophe Scholl was on the side of the angels, she and the White Rose Society were martyrs in taking on Hitler and the NAZis, but to what effect, the lost their heads to the guillotine and he laid waste to Europe, Germany and Jews.
America was ready for a populist, and could have had one, but the Democratic Party gave them a party loyalist and a hack and now we have Trump. Have they learned? I think not.
