Fabulous conversation!

Guys - I enjoyed your content, and I think your analysis is sound.

But I think you missed one very important point: why did 6 major mainstream publications, as well as the Bulwark, simultaneously publish the same story? That Piker needs to be canceled for being an anti-Semite (amongst other crimes?)

Because this isn’t about anti-semitism. It isn’t even about Piker’s words.

It is about publicly crushing a critic of Israel, openly and publicly. To make an example of him. To make sure that any other critic of Israel understands they could be 'Pikered'.

We have to rid ourselves of antisemites on the left. Racism is just as wrong on the left as it is on the right.

We do have to rid ourselves of antisemites, but hasan piker isn’t one. Thanks

I honestly don’t know much about him and you may be right, in which case i apologize. I have heard about him being an antisemite, but may be wrong. He does interact with people who are questionable antisemites.

Yeah I appreciate this. It’s kinda the whole thing in microcosm. The smear campaign against poker works only if people trust the people they shouldn’t, and don’t bother to examine the real Hasan Piker as he actually is. Debunking the smear campaign is an important, but necessary step. Always be skeptical of things like this. As they say: do your own research

True, although i don’t have time to check everything out. This means that there are times when I have to listen to people I trust.

The most important thing to me is that we need to minimize our internal arguments and focus on the real threat…Trump.

Wow I only listened to this because of my curiosity because I am a watcher of online disinfo campaigns and there's a lot of orchestrated propaganda that targets certain people. I do NOT like Hasan Piker and I have a couple of reasons for that, most especially that I was introduced to his existence by someone calling him out for really terrible abelism, and as a disabled person his rhetoric was gross and distinctly to me not left. But having said that, I think comparing him to Nick Fuentes is bizarrely off-kilter and quite ridiculous and I think related to this knee-jerk some "center" people (including Tim Miller at times) have in where they've bought into equating instances of opposition to Israel ethnostate pushing as the same as antisemitism because of propaganda campaigns (by Israel). it's gotten way out of hand. I don't care what Hasan Piker does. I'm not voting for him and I'm not watching his show, and I don't see him as a "signal" for any issues i'm worried about. And there's the rub. The reason I'm angry about my mayor (who is running for congress) who went on James Carville's podcast (and on the bulwark!) is NOT because of going on James Carville's podcast. I mean I don't think it's wise just because even just normal democratic voters find that guy off-putting. But most of them probably won't know anyway. Just like probably most people won't know who went on Hasan Piker's show either, but so many fewer will know about James Carville. But I am not liking this politician because she has supported giving taxpayer money to a literal bank (and it turned out that her FIL is on the board of that bank too), and she has repeatedly backed or even pushed surveillance state tech in our city's police, She's aligned with our governor, on doubling down support of Israel, and who is also up to his eyeballs in big tech data center conflicts of interest. and as it happens James Carville has pushed surveillance state garbage tech systems in police depts and has been cozy with big tech. So going on James Carville's podcast is certainly a signal. And in the same way I think people probably do see Hasan Piker the way I would see James Carville. They see Hasan Piker as pro Palestine or whatever else and they don't like (his ethnicity for example!) and they want a party that can somehow be Not Donald Trump but everything else they like about republicans. And also the people running the narratives out in the media are people who it's their job... some people still want to get paid big money so they put the money over the issues and even over winning, because it's their job and they want to make more money. Also yes, it's right that Tim Miller is just good at his job - I don't agree with that guy on much when it comes to policy but he does seem to be on the side of democracy, he's entertaining, he's not mean or gruff, and he's one of the few podcasters - him and Bill Kristol who cover Donald Trump news and info without playing Donald Trump clips. It's really valuable to have an outlet that's willing to just read out the quote like Tim Miller does on that podcast. There are almost no podcasts or youtube channels that consistently don't play the clips. I posted on social media a few years and a few times about this: I would like the option of being able to get news but without having to see him or especially hear his voice. Like just quote him, people. Stop playing the damn clips. But I guess I'm in the minority and most people love listening to that or surely all the podcasts would just read out the quotes.

Tim Miller and Sarah Longwell are not inside the Democratic tent. They are conservative Republicans aka old guard libertarians. I wouldn't and don't listen to them opining on politics, one exception Tim Miller is a self identified gay, and I can not understand his association with conservatism, anymore than I can Peter Thiels, Steve Bessent and JD Vance, and or that matter Andrew Sullivan. To me they are Quislings.

That guy is another far left looney. I dealt with his type of moron 50 years ago and he shows they haven't gotten any better since. There's a reason why the only way these people can take power is a "dictatorship of the proletariat" where they imprison the people smarter than they are. This guy is as bad news as any damn MAGAt. He and the children who follow him remind me tmy old friend Jerry Rubin was misquoted. It was "don't trust anybody UNDER thirty."

This comment could not be more disconnected from reality. In any event, thank you for watching the conversation. I’m glad it sparked your interest, even if your commentary in response is thoroughly deluded.
